Brookwood Pharmaceuticals develops drug-delivery products for its pharmaceutical partners – pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Because Brookwood’s drug-delivery technologies have broad technical capabilities, the company is developing drug-delivery products indicated for many therapeutic areas. In particular, Brookwood specializes in long-acting parenteral delivery, particularly injectable microparticles and injectable solid implants. Brookwood’s technology platforms can deliver small molecules, peptides, proteins, nucleic acids, and other biological macromolecules. Depending on the indication and drug properties, active pharmaceutical ingredients can be delivered at efficacious levels for days, weeks, or months following a single administration.
The above pipeline shows some of Brookwood’s present product-development activities, clinical manufacturing contracts, and biomaterial sales through its subsidiary Lakeshore Biomaterials. The biomaterial sales are to Brookwood drug-delivery partners and external customers. The products listed in the pipeline above include microparticle and injectable solid implant depot formulations, drug-eluting devices, medical devices, nanoparticles, liposomes, and vaccines. Routes of administration include systemic, oral, and local delivery. Clinical manufacturing of partnered products are carried out in Brookwood’s GMP facilities to expedite product-development time and to assure success. Process scale up and clinical manufacturing are also carried out for customers that accomplish their own pre-clinical development. Brookwood’s manufacturing capability includes aseptic manufacturing and terminal sterilization of product.
